Hey Guys,
I have a '96 maroon savage. I bought the bike in July,
it had only 150 miles on it. I've been using it for
daily commuting to work/school (now have 4k miles on it).
After the first month I noticed the top right side of
the tank (the part most exposed to the sun when parked)
was starting to fade, I slapped a coat of wax on it but
the fading has continued. The fade is only on the tank
and doesn't occur on any other painted surface.
I figure the paint probably has crappy pigments.
I park in the shade every oppotunity I get but the
blazing sun shows no mercy here in San Antonio,TX.
I saw a '97 maroon in a shop here with the entire top
of the tank faded, upon first glace it looked like
a custom job. Anyways, has anyone else experienced
this phenomenon? It's annoying, something akin to
going bald. If anyone knows a treatment for prevention,
please post it so others may avoid "THE FADE"
